Since 2012, it’s been my habit to come up with one aphorism which I think sums up my experience of that year. Here’s the list. (Attributions where I know them)

2012 We tend to overestimate what we can do in the short run and underestimate what we can do in the long run.

2013 If you’re not paying, you’re not the customer, you’re the product.

2014 If you know what you’re doing, you can do what you want. - Moshe Feldenkrais

2015 You’re better than you think you are. You can do more than you think you can. - Ken Clouber

2016 If you don’t read the papers you’re uninformed. If you do, you’re misinformed.

2017 Difficult” is not a synonym for impossible”. - Me
